This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Traffic in San Jose peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Heard about MySelera cos of their famous Curry Leaves Bistro location in Pleasanton. Nice to have the same great option in the South Bay. Itβs in a foodhall right downtown. Parking might seem a little tricky depending on the time but I found street meter parking right out front with no issue. The setting is casual and pretty nice, with other foodhall options also available (but I didnβt try). A few large tables and also easy to grab and go. Love love love the nasi lemak with sambal! Really brings me home to Malaysian breakfast! Great flavors and large portions. Also love the many vegetarian-friendly options! Gonna have to come back and try the other stuff on the menu, will update the review more then.

My Selera is authentic Malaysian food and located inside a food court so you will not see the restaurant until you enter the food court. So happy to find authentic Malaysian food and meet chef/owner today. Pricing is very good too! We had curry puffs, chicken rice and nasi lemak with chili chicken. No wait for table but a little wait for the food to be made freshly as they just started operations when we got there. Itβs also halal and they are open Tuesday even though google is showing that wrongly as closed.

Went in around 11:30am on a Sunday. Place was empty so problems with any lines. Will need to park in one of the parking buildings nearby however. Food was solid overall. Ordered 2 variations of Nasi Lemak to go. Both had coconut milk rice, ikan bilis (fried anchovies), sambal (Chili chutney), peanuts. Nasi Lemak Mamak Spiced Fried Chicken - Bone in Quarter Leg Chicken variation Nasi Lemak Chili Chicken Sambal - Boneless Chicken and Tangy Chili Paste In particular the Sambal was amazing and really carried the dish for me, and I preferred the spiced fried chicken. Service was solid, nothing outstanding, food took a while to be made (around 30minutes) but good enough. Atmosphere was pretty quiet, good place to have a chat, though if it gets crowded there won't be much space.

If you are looking for a quick South-East Asian food, this is a good place to try. It is a Malaysian fast food with local dishes. Menu is simple and food is pretty good. It is located in downtown San Jose inside a small food court on East Santa Clara. Worth giving it a try.
